Added the first surface distortion effect to the game. A heat haze wave for the background. Very Norfair.

Maya Breaker News Release
For Immediate Release
Xanthous Ray Games
Parsippany, NJ
Maya Breaker is an action adventure platformer. This indie game combines
metroidvania progression with swinging mechanics to deliver novel combat and
puzzle solving. With 16-bit era inspired artwork and music, this game provides
an authentic early nineties epic gaming
experience. The focus on this game will be massive boss battles and not
backtracking. To that end, the Kickstarter campaign starts this Friday. It will begin at 10:00pm EST Friday the 14th of 2014 and run for 30 days. Rewards include a retro style game box and a 3D printed figuring of the game's protagonist. With
the help of many talented individuals, this game will release this year
and we can all enjoy a fun adventure.
Xanthous Ray has more than five years experience in game development. The project head previously working
with Saturnine Games to create 'Antipole' the gravity-inverting platformer. It
was released on XBLA and DSiWare. Antipole was recommended in Nintendo Power and featured in the Royal Indie
Bundle.
Maya Breaker begins a new 16 bit adventure. You are given a giant claw
on a chain early on. You can use this to swing from hooks and ceilings; latch onto walls and fight enemies. A massive underground world is yours to
explore, but surviving won't be easy. The root of the problem is a race of
carnivorous plant monsters who want to gobble you up. Maya Breaker was featured in this year's Magfest Indie Showcase. The gameplay has been
prototyped over the past year. The only thing left is the massive amount of
assets needed to finish the game. We
need objects rendered in pixels, backgrounds painted and music
written. The funds gained through this campaign will enable artists of greater talent to make the best game
possible. Stretch goals include release on iOS and Android.
Features:
16-bit pixel art
wordless storytelling
minimal backtracking
swinging and grappling mechanics
extra puzzle rooms to unlock

The Kickstarter has yet to be started or kicked
Apparently I was overzealous with my hopes to get the kickstarter up this morning. While I did finish the writing of the page last night like I anticipated, I failed to realize that it takes 2-3 business days to get approved by the site. So things will have to be delayed for a bit. In the meantime, I will be working this weekend to finish an awesome playable demo for the next round of testing!
